What is a Micro-Cannula?
Micro-Cannulas are an alternative to needles when administering fillers. Needles are sharp, which leads to discomfort, and a higher risk of bruising because the sharp end of the needle can injure blood vessels (which then leads to bruises). Conversely Micro-cannulas are thin flexible tubes with smooth rounded tips that push vessels and nerves out of the way when under the skin-leading to much less trauma, swelling, and risk of bruising.
Benefits of Micro-Cannula technique include:
Minimal to no discomfort
Less risk to no bruising
Decreased tissue trauma
Less pain
Less swelling
Common areas for Micro-Cannula use include:
Fillers for undereye circles, or undereye hollowing
Lip fillers
Jawline
Hands
Smile lines or nasolabial folds
Advanced brow and forehead contouring
As always, the Micro-Cannula is a tool all injectors can opt to use, but know that it takes a lot of experience and technique to master delivery of filler in this method in the correct planes of the face.
